In 1972 Fiat started production rear-engined 126 (like it's
predecessors 500, 600 and 850).
In West Europe, the last 126 was sold in 1982, but even today
126's are made and sold in Poland where it's called the Fiat
126 elx Maluch (Maluch means very small baby in Polish).
Over the years, it has been restyled a little, gotten a better carburator and
catalystic convertor. Also a convertible version should exist...
The Fiat 126 is still the best sold car in Poland because of it's very low
price (half of that of the Cinquecento). Production is
likely to end in 1999 though.
