Bristol Italian Auto Moto Festival 26th April 2008

The local sections of the Alfa Romeo Owners Club and the Ducati Desmo Owners Club, together with Bristol City Council, will again host the annual Bristol Italian Auto Moto Festival from 11am. to 4pm. on Saturday 26th April 2008. Following the same successful format as previous years, the event will bring some of Italy’s most desirable and charismatic cars and bikes into the heart of the Old City. The streets will be closed to traffic, creating a pedestrian friendly zone where the cars and bikes, parked ‘Italian style,’ may be safely viewed. The event's display streets also feature some great restaurants, pubs, cafes and the Saturday market stalls. This is going to be a show not to be missed! Admission is free of charge both to entrants and spectators.

Fiat will be the Featured Marque of the 2008 Festival with the a celebration of the 500 model at the centre of the show! We will mark the 51st anniversary of the 500 with a range of examples to span the years including some of the brand new Nuova 500 models. We will also feature a wide range of other charismatic Fiats of all ages to set the streets alive with Italian chic and design flair. Why not make a note in your diary to 'come on down' and take part in the best free Italian vehicle festival in the country? For news updates see: www.aroc-uk.com/gloucesterandsouth/

Entrants will require a permit. Space will be limited and entries are bound to be oversubscribed so don't delay! To reserve your place please send your name, address, phone & mobile numbers and vehicle details (marque, model, year) to:

biamf@ourhemanpal.co.uk or telephone Paul G hanmore on 0117 947 5814.

Track Day!!!!

At the UK barchetta Owners Club AGM last year, we discussed ideas for club events.

One of the ideas was to hold a track day for club members.

It was commented on that an airfield based track was probably safest in terms of safety of the cars (gravel traps don't do much for the bodywork)!

If anyone has any suggestions for possible track venues please contact Richard Keogh

Auto-Italia Spring Italian Car Day – Brooklands - Saturday April 29th

Historic Brooklands is one of the few places in the UK where you can see and hear exotic cars in action at close quarters. The short demonstration circuit starts at the bottom of the Test Hill where spectators can enjoy the roar of a classic Ferrari V12 or high revving Abarth as the cars prepare for the short 1 in 4 sprint. Spectacular viewing is also available from the Members’ Bridge where the cars run at speed on the restored banked track. The combination of car demonstrations, club displays, aviation and motoring exhibitions, and the Italian trade village make this a great family day out.

Bristol Italian Auto Moto Festival - Saturday April 29th – Organised by The Alfa Romeo Owners Club. Their Bristol & West Section are again organising an Italian Car Festival to be held on 29th April 2006 in the streets of Bristol - any one wishing to attend should register at - http://www.arocbriswest.co.uk/

Lots of Ferrari and Lambo exotica and 5 barchettas!!

The Goodwood breakfast club site - www.goodwood.co.uk/breakfastclub/ is well worth a look for future events.

MAY 2004

Saturday 1st - Italian Car Day, Bristol

Contact Romano Fionda

Bristol City Council and the Bristol & West section of the Alfa Romeo Owners Club are arranging the 2nd Italian Car day in the historic centre of 'old Bristol'. The cars are parked on the streets and pavements and the day promises the sights and sounds of all things Italian' - to quote from January's Auto Italia magazine.

Sunday 2nd - Auto Italia, Brooklands Spring Italian Car Festival

The featured marque this year is Alfa Romeo and a number of historic,
classic and competition cars have been invited to form a display in the
paddock. There will also be a special Alfetta feature, in celebration of the
model’s 30th anniversary.

Sunday 16th - North Meeting

The meeting will take the form of a motorised Treasure Hunt around the Macclesfield area of Cheshire, for which YOU WILL REQUIRE a copy of the Ordnance Survey 1:50,000 scale Landranger Map Number 118 "Stoke-on-Trent & Macclesfield" (Edition C3, 2003).

The meeting will start at 11:00 am from the car park of the Leisure Centre in Holmes Chapel, which is just off J18 of the M6. Leave the M6 and head into Holmes Chapel on the A54. After 0.75 miles (just past a Texaco garage) the A54 continues as a turning to the right, Chester Road, signposted "A54 Congleton" and "LeisureCentre". Continue for 0.25 miles, and where the A54 makes a 90 degree left, turn right into Selkirk Drive, then right into the Leisure Centre (and School) at the yellow zig-zag markings. Keep left for the Leisure Centre (ignore signs saying "Car Park", they are for the school).

Anticipated time for the Treasure Hunt is 2 to 2.5 hours, and will end at a PH (Public House in OS parlance) for lunch. And don't worry, if you get hopelessly lost you will be given a "suicide envelope" which tells you where the end-point is so that you can meet up with everyone again - although you will be penalised if you open the envelope!

Organiser Steve Auty

Sunday 30th May - Scottish Italian Car Day

The annual Scottish gathering of Italian metal has moved to St. Andrews (Craigtoun Country Park). We hope to have great day in new surroundings and welcome old friends and new. If it's Italian, bring it along. Rendezvous 10:30am at Kinross Services, junction 6 M90. If you require further information please contact me directly. As this will be the first Scottish barchetta Club meeting for a few years, I have decided to join forces with the Scottish Region of The X1/9 Owners Club for the day. I believe the special bond and friendliness of the small band of Scottish X1/9 owners will make it a memorable day out and will give barchetta enthusiasts a taste of what they can expect, once their own Scottish region has established itself firmly on the scene. If you want to experience the passion of Italian automobiles then I urge you to come along. There’s nothing like a convoy of Italian cars to quicken your heart beat.
