Cut two templates out of the carton for the foot wells. Start with a rectangular piece of about 73x41.5 cm. Round the corners (radius 3 cm) and cut out the corner. Obviously the shape of the two foot wells is different! I made about 4-5 pieces before I was satisfied. Do not make the fit too tight since you still need to apply the finishing strip. |

Take the carton templates to a metal workshop where they sell and cut aluminium plate to size. Ask them to use five-strip aluminium plate of 2 mm thickness. Also ask them to round the edges to prevent cutting the barchetta floor covering during fitting (see detail picture). I paid about 40 Euro for the aluminium, but that might vary substantially dependent on the workshop... |

Fit the alu floors by carefully bending them at the appropriate places and angles. Preferably bend around a steel pipe of appropriate thickness to prevent sharp bends in the alu floors. |

Use the finishing strip to cover the edges of the alu floors. I found perfect fitting strip with a metal core, which fitted without using glue (see detail picture). Start at the top part of the alu floors, so the joint will be out of sight. Use a rubber hammer to carefully put the strip into place. Cut to size with pliers. |
